AN elderly woman was killed when a car crashed through her fence and ran over her while she was gardening today. Police said the woman was gardening at her home in Stonehaven Cres, Hampton East, when a driver, who was attempting to complete a u-turn in a nearby driveway, crashed through her brick fence and “literally ran her over”. The woman was killed instantly and was still trapped under the car at 4pm today. Senior constable Adam West said it is believed the driver’s foot accidently slipped off the car’s accelerator, causing it to smash through the fence at 2.15pm. Paramedics were unable to offer the woman any assistance when they arrived at the scene as she was already dead. Police said investigations are ongoing as they speak to witnesses and the driver of the car about the incident. HERALD SUN
