Jesse Stone

i happen to like the Jessie Stone series starring Tom Selleck, and to think i just stumbled upon it during a sleepless night. so far, i've managed to catch 3 episodes on melbourne's broadcast tv close to the witching hour. the character has this hyperactive sense of responsibility that seem to survive his addiction to good whiskey (as a coping mechanism for being left by his wife?). i have to admit that there were a couple of instances when i thought i'd zone out, but they kept me afloat!

i've since found out that the series was inspired by Robert B Parker novels. but what's weird with the episodes that were shown is that i don't think i've seen them in sequence. i thought the network made a mistake here, but apparently this was intentional from its original production (flashback?).

i think i'm ready for another session set in Paradise sometime soon. bring on the Stone-cold sense of justice. i can sense a parable....

The newest Pussycat Doll

As I begin to watch the final episode of Search for the Next Doll, I was excited for Melissa R, the candidate I support.

All started well until Asia started an argument with Melissa R. Poor Mel fell for Asia's psych job and it affected her performance during the practice sessions. Well it sort of affected everyone's.
The three sang Lady Marmalade as a group but for their solos, Melissa R sang Stick wit U and Asia sang Don't need a man. I don't think Chelsea is worth mentioning.

At the end of the night, ........Asia won! And she performed with the rest of the dolls as a group.

Well that sucks.

I still support Melissa R.

PCD's search for the next doll

My all time fave reality show is probably "The Amazing Race". I've seen every American Amazing Race season so far plus the "Amazing Race Asia" which aired recently in asian channels featuring two Filipino teams (one was Jac Yu and Aubrey, left) and one Kiwi team among others. I'm currently watching Amazing Race 11 (All-stars from previous episodes) and can't wait for Amazing Race Asia 2 (currently taking applications).

Jac and Aubrey sucked real bad. I mean if you were given the chance to be in once-in-a-lifetime experience like this, would you give it all? I didn't feel they they did and felt that it was a waste....BUT they both looked really pretty on screen so I forgive them.

I came across this new idol reality show called "Pussycat dolls presents: The search for the next doll". First I thought what a really long title but effective :)

It is a combination of American Idol, Americas Next Top Model, and elements from your usual Survivor type "immunity" concept plus of course few original bits (very few - in fact I can only count two) . I believe this is currently showing in Aussie.

Basically it is like:
  • American Idol - except the singers are much better (the show starts at top 18 instead of showing the auditions). Each challenge they have 3 judges, following the idol format.
  • America's Next Top Model - I don't watch this much but I can tell that the PCD show copied the "living in the doll house" and having mini-challenges and the "video mail" concepts. Of course the PCD contestants do not show model bitchiness.
  • Immunity concept - girls who win mini-challenges are immune from elimination.
  • Since PCD is a group, all challenges or activties are grouped.
  • The founder of PCD, Robin, is like an old hag who cannot grow up. She behaves like a teenager. Also lots of signs of plastic surgery.

Anyway, I'd like to bring to your attention "my manok"...Melissa R (Bebo). R stands for Reyes. Apparently her parents, both doctors, don't approve of her being a performer. I must say that I think she's got the complete overall package to be a doll.

Other's I am supporting are Asia and Melissa S. Asia is quite good but have shown signs of selfishness and can sometimes be annoying. Melissa S I think is also a natural (just like the other Mel) and she's got potential. Chelsea is a bit on the weaker side but surprisingly she is still in there. She may be the underdog. there are two other leggy ones but somehow personally they do not stand out for me.

Anyway...we'll see who'll win...GO Mel R!
