Art

I have not appreciated art until I visited the National Gallery today. Being in front of these amazing masterpieces makes you realise how skillful these 16th century painters are. The attention to detail is amazing and surpasses any photograph. A really good painting appears 3-D and makes the painting almost “touchable”. Working with oil paint to show lighting detail is not an easy skill to master.

Unfortunately we only had a brief time to look at paintings. The gallery is crowded with people and travellers from all over the world. I imagine I will need to make multiple visits to the gallery to fully appreciate all the paintings.

We did a “mini circle” tour…we went passed Downing St., saw the London eye briefly (not get on it), and saw Big Ben.

Then it started raining so we had to stop the walk otherwise we would have seen Buckingham Palace as well…
