oh look, a moving tree

I'm always fascinated by seeing huge trees being transported - it just seems soooo wierd seeing something that is usually stationary moving at a fair clip down the road to it's new resting place. oh, and seeing houses being moved as well, now that's pretty cool. I remember one of the first houses that we lived in here in NZ, being moved...

a few weeks ago, some huge trucks came thru the main road to which the street that i live on is adjacent... they were moving a house right... but the thing is with this road (which is fairly wide to accomodate the trucks that come thru) it bottlenecks at a pedestrian crossing which has islands.

Now usually, most trucks can get thru between the islands that make up the bottleneck, but in this case, this truck was wider than the average truck (could've been a bully in truck school, or maybe hormonal?) and so it took nearly half an hour to get it over the crossing as they had to take it slowly and make minute adjustments so that it didn't knock down the crossing lights...

luckily it was fairly late at nite, but it still backed up traffic going both ways for several hundred metres
